Specifically, the research seeks to image pancreatic cancer with PET using novel small molecule radiopharmaceuticals, which are specific for tumor associated fibroblasts expressing the serine protease fibroblast activation protein alpha (FAP) in the tumor microenvironment.  Success of this proposal will create new PET radiopharmaceuticals that target the tumor stroma for the detection of pancreatic cancer, and improve precision medicine approaches for the treatment of pancreatic cancer with the goals of decreasing patient suffering and improving overall survival.
